British Columbia

Next on our tour is the beautiful British Columbia. Its a trip we are very much looking forward to! Its the second time JOW has been up this way – in 2008 JOW cruised around Alaska.

The trip from Hawaii to BC goes well – the weather Gods have been very good to us. We catch plenty of fish. A little bit of fog awaits near BC. Watch keepers are on their toes. We arrive late at night and quietly maneuver our way to Prince Rupert. Sailing into British Columbia is spectacular especially at dusk.

Next morning we are in awe at the spectacular sight that is Price Rupert. The clean fresh air, blue skies, calm cool water and green forests really enforce that ‘BC’ feeling. Its a great little town. With some great little bars! We are the talk of the town for the few days we remain. Its a spot we hopefully will return to in the not to distant future.

Places of anchorages include Lowe Inlet, Khutze Inlet, Fish Egg Inlet, Port Hardy, Port McNell, Hornsby Island then down to Victoria. The anchorages are amazing. Usually we are the only ones. We spot a few bears, visit local communities and just encounter pristine nature and wildlife. Its very remote. The weather is good if not a little chilly. We love it.

Victoria is our last stop and on the ‘favourite cities to visit’ list on JOW. A small city oozing with charm. So much to see and do here and all just a short walk from the boat. The little yellow water taxi’s and regular sea plane takeoff/landings are a constant amusement. Was sad to leave. But c’est la vie. Next stop San Francisco!
